It is with profound sadness that we announce the death of Adelia M. (Pleskovich) Verakis, age 89, who passed away peacefully on June 26, 2026.
Born in Strabane, Pennsylvania, Adelia spent most of her life in Canonsburg, Pennsylvania, before moving to Amesbury, Massachusetts, in 2012 to be closer to her daughter and granddaughter.
Adelia enjoyed a long and dedicated career of more than 40 years with McGraw-Edison, later Cooper Industries, where she served as a Sales Manager. She was known for her strong work ethic, professionalism, and commitment throughout her career.
Adelia found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She loved sewing, cooking and baking for family and friends, and keeping a warm, welcoming home. Above all, she cherished time spent with her daughter, granddaughter, great-grandson, and their families. She was deeply proud of her Slovenian heritage and the traditions and values she carried throughout her life.
A woman of deep faith, Adelia was a longtime member of St. Patrick Parish in Canonsburg, PA and, after relocating to Massachusetts, became a member of St. André Bessette Parish in Amesbury, MA.
Adelia was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose quiet strength, kindness, and unwavering love for her family will be remembered always.
She is survived by her loving daughter, Lisol V. Milliren and her husband, Richard A. Cimino, of Amesbury, Massachusetts; her granddaughter, Carly Milliren and her husband, Fred Zagranis, of Amesbury; and her cherished great-grandson, Finn Zagranis. She is also survived by her sister, Beverly J. Rosselle of Strabane, Pennsylvania; her nephew, Michael Rosselle; and extended family in both the United States and Slovenia.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 57 years, Terrence E. Verakis, in 2015, and by her parents, Mary (Tomsic) Pleskovich and Frank Pleskovich.
Adelia will be remembered for her gentle spirit, unwavering faith, dedication to her family, and the love she expressed through a home that was always welcoming, a table filled with homemade food and baked goods, and the care she gave to those around her. She leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and family that will be cherished by all who knew her.
Visitation will be held on Monday, July 6, 2026 from 4 P.M. to 7 P.M. at Paul C. Rogers Family Funeral Home, 2 Hillside Avenue, Amesbury, MA. A Funeral Mass will be held the following day, July 7, 2026 at St. Joseph Church of St André Bessette Parish, 2 School Street, Amesbury, at 10:30 A.M. followed by burial at St. Joseph Cemetery, Haverhill Road, Amesbury.
