Alba L. Gouldthorpe

Alba Lorraine Gouldthorpe of Plum Island passed away peacefully into her Lord’s open arms on Wednesday, November 12, 2025. She was born in Somerville, Massachusetts, on August 25, 1934. She was the eldest daughter of Olga and Pietro Bernacchi. Her husband Robert Gouldthorpe preceded her in death in 2015. She is survived by her sister Elsa Gould of Weymouth MA, as well as her 3 children, Peter William and his wife Suzanne Seeley of Florida, David Andrew and his wife Kim Seeley of Pennsylvania, and a daughter, Jeanmarie Kurowski of Delaware, as well as her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a proud graduate of Arlington high school and a faithful attendee at Saint James Catholic Church in Arlington, Massachusetts. Upon moving to Plum Island she became a parishioner at the Church of the Immaculate Conception, as well as helping as often as she could there.

Alba enjoyed spending as much time together as possible with Bob. Including trips to Vermont, as well as dining out. They were best friends.

Alba was an avid volunteer in the communities of Newbury and Newburyport. She spent countless hours in the Anna Jacques hospital, volunteering as well as for the town of Newbury. She had a passion for improving the town of Newbury, both for young and old.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 25, 2025 from 9 A.M. to 10 A.M. at Elliott, Woodworth & Rogers Family Funeral Home, 35 Green Street, Newburyport, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:30 A.M. at the Church of the Immaculate Conception, 42 Green Street, Newburyport, MA with a Graveside Service at Oak Hill Cemetery, Newburyport, where she will be laid to eternal rest beside her beloved husband Bob.

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made in her memory to the Newbury Council on Aging. PO Box 794, Byfield Ma 01922.
