Albert D. Sanborn, known by many as Al, age 83, longtime resident of Merrimac, MA, passed at Beth Israel Hospital on July 16 2025. He is survived by his devoted wife of sixty two years, Barbara (Bridges) Sanborn.
Born in Merrimac, on April 19, 1942, he was the son of the late Harry and Lottie (McKenzie) Sanborn and was a High School graduate.
Albert was a proud veteran of the United States Army, enlisting at the age of 17, and had served several years. After his military service, he worked many years at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard as a pipefitter until his retirement.
He was a longtime member of Bethany Lodge in Merrimac. His greatest enjoyment was spending time with his family, especially with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whom he loved so dearly.
He will always be remembered and loved by his wife, Barbara; two sons, Mark Sanborn and Scott Sanborn, both of Merrimac; two daughters, Pamela Sanborn of Michigan and Theresa Hingst and husband Al of Carver, MA; grandchildren, Brian, Michael, Hayden, Camryn and Christopher; great-grandchildren, Logan, Brandon and Mason, along with extended family and many dear friends. In addition to his parents, he is also predeceased by his grandson, Cody; two brothers, Paul and Kenneth Sanborn, and his three sisters, Sandy, Pauline and Louise.
At Al’s request, there will be no services. He will be laid to eternal rest at Locust Grove Cemetery. Arrangements were by Paul C. Rogers Family Funeral Home, 36 West Main Street, Merrimac, MA 01860.
