Andrea F. Amato

Andrea Amato was born in Brockton, Massachusetts, to a large and loving family. She remained deeply connected to her brothers and sisters throughout her entire life. Her nursing career was very important to her; she was an exceptional, kind, and empathetic nurse who became a familiar and comforting face to many in the community.

Andrea and Frank wed on Veterans Day 1970. Together, they shared a profound love for the outdoors, spending many years climbing mountain peaks in New Hampshire.

In 1975, they attended an adoption fair where they fell instantly in love with the biography of a young man named Donald. Despite having no photo, a social worker assured them he looked “just like Andrea.” They adopted Donnie in 1976 and moved to Amesbury, Massachusetts, which remained their home for the rest of their lives.

In the 1980s, Andrea and Frank attended a Billy Graham sermon that changed their lives forever. They gave their lives to the Lord, were baptized, and found a second home within the Southampton Baptist Church community.

Andrea was predeceased by her beloved husband, Frank; her parents, Andrew and Jenny Pagani; her sister, Joanne; her brother, Jimmy; and her nephew, Chris.

She is survived by her son, Donald Amato, and his wife, Michelle. She also leaves behind her sisters, Adele (husband Al), Mickey Giusti (husband Bill), and Judy Nye; her brother, Tony Pagani (wife Patty); and many beloved nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews.

Services will be held at South Hampton Baptist Church in early spring, tentatively in April, with burial following at Union Cemetery on Route 110 in Amesbury.
