Anita L. (Chandler) Harvey, age 93, longtime resident of Newburyport, passed peacefully on Saturday, April 18, 2026 at Cedar Healthcare Center in Portsmouth, NH. She was the devoted wife of the late James F. Harvey, who passed on February 25, 2015.
Born in Newburyport, March 31, 1933, she was the one of four children of Hartley and Frances (Thompson) Chandler and was a graduate of Newburyport High School.
Anita and her husband, James, were the proud parents of two sons and one daughter. Jim was a silversmith at the Old Newbury Crafters and Anita was very proud in taking care of her children, and being a homemaker. She loved to knit and take long walks . She was a member of of the Newburyport Lions Club and the Grange, and also was a Mason’s wife doing a lot of volunteer work.
Anita leaves behind special memories that will always be treasured by her children, Robert Harvey, James Harvey, and Rhonda Harvey and husband Mike Dore; her special niece, Jean M. Doyle, who took care of her, especially in her later years; her three grandsons who held a very special place in her heart, Roger, Matthew and Brian Thurlow; two great-grandchildren, who were also greatly cherished, Cadence and Brayden Thurlow; along with extended family and dear friends.
On Wednesday, May 6, 2026, there will be visiting hours at the Trinity United Church at 103 Lafayette Road, Seabrook, NH from 10 A.M. to 11:30 A.M. followed by the Funeral Service, then the Graveside service at Hillside Cemetery, where Anita will be laid to eternal rest beside her beloved husband, Jim. All are invited to join the family for a reception at the Parish Hall across from the Trinity United Church. Arrangement were made by Elliott, Woodworth & Rogers Family Funeral Home, 35 Green Street, Newburyport, MA 01950.
