Aurora passed away peacefully on September 1, 2026, leaving behind her husband Richard Geary of Newburyport, MA, her daughter Angela Gee of Cohasset, MA, her granddaughters Kathryn Pecjo of Sinclair, ME and Elizabeth Pecjo of Cohasset, MA.

Aurora was born in Shanghai, China at about the time the communists were taking over China. Her parents, John and Jemima Way with her brother, Douglas fled China to Hong Kong and soon flew to the United States leaving Aurora with her grandfather for safekeeping.

At the age of 8 years old her grandfather passed. Her parents then made arrangements to smuggle Aurora out of China. With the help of Senator Leverett Saltonstall she was flown to San Francisco and met her family for, basically, the first time.

Aurora attended Girls’ Latin School (Boston Latin Academy) and was an excellent student. English and Art were her favorites and excelled in each.

She became a single mom in 1966 and devoted her efforts to raising Angela.

She worked at Hambros Bank as office coordinator and decorating consultant. She ended her working career while working for Lowell Bank, Lowell, MA leaving her more time to spend with her girls, her gardening, her backyard deck, her birds, her beach, her watercolors and her husband.

Her memorial celebration will be held at Elliott, Woodworth & Rogers Family Funeral Home, 35 Green St., Newburyport, MA on September 12, from 10 am to 12pm with lunch to follow at The Poynt, 31 Water Street, Newburyport.

In lieu of flowers donations are appreciated at Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers,MA or Care Dimensions Hospice House in Lincoln,MA.
