West Newbury, MA

Catherine S. (Kay) McDonald, 96, a longtime resident of West Newbury, passed peacefully at home surrounded by her loving children on Saturday December 13th. Catherine was born  to Harry W. and Mary (Sinclair) Stuart on June 7, 1929 in Framingham.

Kay married the love of her life, John (Jack) in 1950 and together they raised five children. She was a loving, caring, mom, and a wonderful homemaker who enjoyed gardening, often bringing her flowers inside, placing them where they could be enjoyed by all. She was also an avid reader and a lifelong learner, studying the arts, languages, and learning about and going to operas. Most of all Kay enjoyed spending time with Jack and their family. Kay enjoyed dining out with Jack and then with her children after Jack's passing.

Kay attended Fischer Junior college for accounting. She worked for many years at the Louise Mills Federal Credit Union in West Newbury and Merrimac. She retired in 1991 and enjoyed many years traveling.

Kay and Jack traveled the U. S. and Canada extensively. Leaving each June and returning in October they would tool about the country in their motor home exploring what the world had to offer. They had many trips to Europe as well, traveling with motor home tours there during the summer months. They also made several trips with family to Germany, Austria, Denmark, Norway and Belgium, enjoying the Christmas markets in those countries.

Kay was the loving mother of Stuart A. McDonald, Thomas S. McDonald and wife Dorothy, Nancy E. Waterhouse and husband Robert, the late John A. McDonald Jr. and Michael C. McDonald; grandmother of Stephen R. McDonald, Nora E. McDonald and husband Cody Baker, Keith D. McDonald, Ryan C. McDonald and wife Kate.

Arrangements were made by Paul C. Rogers Family Funeral Home, 2 Hillside Avenue, Amesbury, MA 01913.
