Charles Stephen Fowler passed away on September 14, 2025. He was predeceased by his wife, Christine M. Fowler (Cammett), whom he was married to for 65 years.

Born in Newburyport, January 6, 1939, Charles was a lifelong resident of West Newbury more than 80 years. After selling his house after 7 years ago, he moved to Merrimac, MA.

He is predeceased by his parents, Chester L. Fowler and Evelyn M. Fowler (Brown), his brother, Donald L. Fowler, his nephew, Kenneth Edward Fowler, and his son-in-law, Robert Anderson.

He is survived by his four children, Victoria Ann Anderson of Kingston NH, Lucinda M. Pittman and her husband Lee Pittman of Merrimac, MA, Charles S. Fowler, Jr. of Barrington, NH, and Pollyann Tatarczuk and her husband Scott D. Tatarczuk of Exeter, NH.; his sister-in-law, Elaine Fowler of West Newbury MA, and Catherine Riley and brother-in-law, Paul Riley of Danville NH. He leaves his beloved 10 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren, along with many nieces and nephews. He also leaves family and some very dear friends who he loved to visit and chat with whenever he could reminiscing about the old times.

Charles went to school at Newburyport High School where he played football for many years. His picture of his football days hung in the Park Lunch restaurant in Newburyport.

He worked at GE for over thirty years as a machinist/maintenance. He also worked at Raytheon as a machinist for over 7 years and helped out as a truck driver for many years at Arakelians. He plowed for the town and state as well.

Charles was also a Firefighter for over 30 plus years for the West Newbury Fire Department and was involved with the VFA Handtub. He took great pride in the years he served in the department and was especially proud when he was joined by his nephew/godson Kenny Fowler and his daughter Cindy Pittman. He was involved with the West Newbury Fireman’s Association - Gardner 4.

After retiring he loved his time as a ranger at Winslow Memorial Park in Freeport ME. He did that for many years and enjoyed meeting new people and helping with the yearly Triathlons. His children also enjoyed many summers at the “Fowler Compound” at the Park for many summers.

Charles “Chuck” Fowler was an avid motorcycle enthusiast. He could always be found tinkering with his 1951 Harley Davidson and riding it in the town parade. For many years he entered his prized Trik in the Kingston Fairgrounds winning 1st place in his class many times. He loved sharing stories about his rides with friends and family. He raced cars he built for many years at the old race track, Pine speedway, in Groveland, MA.

Along with his late wife Christine, he enjoyed entertaining family and friends for holidays and special occasions. There are many, many memories for those left behind to remember.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the WNVFA, West Newbury Veteran Fireman’s Association - Gardner 4.

A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, September 25, 2025 at 10 A.M. at the West Newbury Congregational Church, 308 Main Street, West Newbury, immediately followed by a Graveside Service at Bridge Street Cemetery, West Newbury, where he will be laid to eternal rest beside his dearly beloved wife, Christine. Arrangements were made by Paul C. Rogers Family Funeral Home, 2 Hillside Avenue, Amesbury, MA 01913.
