Emblem

Cynthia Anne Parnell (Sordillo), 63, affectionately known as Cindi, of Salisbury, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, at home.

Cindi was born in Revere on February 11, 1963, the daughter of the late Ralph and Marilyn (Terminiello) Sordillo.

Cindi attended Revere High School, Class of 1981. After high school, she enlisted in the United States Coast Guard, graduating at the top of her class from boot camp. She was deployed to Miami for four years, where her courage, determination, and expertise earned her the praise and admiration of her superiors, as well as numerous awards and commendations for her skill and dedication.

Throughout her life, Cindi was always devoted to helping others. After her service in the Coast Guard, she continued her career in law enforcement with the Boston DOC while earning her nursing degree at night. It was during this time that she met her husband, David Parnell.

Cindi graduated at the top of her class in nursing school and went on to become a Registered Nurse, a career that she dedicated many years to. Always confident in her knowledge and expertise, she took great pride in caring for others and making a difference in the lives of those around her.

Cindi's stunning smile and full of life aura lit up every room. She had a presence that was impossible to miss and a way of making those around her feel her warmth and energy. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends and all those who were fortunate to know her.

She is survived by her loving sister and lifelong best friend, Andrea Butts of Haverhill; her two, much loved nephews, Joshua Butts and his partner, Angela Donati, of Kingston, NH, and Jordan Butts and his partner, Mia Patriacca, of Haverhill; as well as her many, many adoring and faithful friends of many years, including all her caring friends at the VA.

Cindi was predeceased by her loving husband, David, who passed away in 1999; her brother-in-law, Kyle Butts; her proud parents, Marilyn and Ralph Sordillo; and her beloved, loyal service dog and protector, Niko, who was always by her side.

Family and friends are invited to a Memorial Service, which will be celebrated on September 9, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the First Congregational Church, 230 Beach St., Revere, MA. There will be no visiting hours. Her final resting place will be private.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Cindi’s memory to a charity or cause of your choosing. Cindi was deeply dedicated to animal welfare and was a committed monthly donor to the MSPCA. She also cared deeply about the people and animals affected by the war in Ukraine. Donations to either of these causes or to another organization important to you, would be a meaningful way to honor her memory.
