David A. Hanna, age 80, of Amesbury, MA, passed peacefully at the High Pointe Hospice House in Haverhill, surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by his devoted wife, Roberta (Pennie) Hanna.
Born in Norfolk, VA on June 10, 1946, he was the son of the late George E. Hanna and the late Mary (Serino) Hanna and and was a graduate of Boston Technical High School.
David was a proud Vietnam era veteran, having served with the United States Navy from May 6, 1965 and was discharged on May 2, 1968 with the rank of Boiler Technician 3.
After his Military Service, David worked at Adage Inc. in Boston. He served as a Malden police officer in the 1970s before moving to Newburyport and holding several positions in quality control at local companies such as Berkshire Manufacturing, PDC Manufacturing, and M/A-Com. Most recently, he worked at Arch Medical Solutions, a precision manufacturing company specializing in orthopedic, dental, and surgical robotics, as a Quality Assurance Inspector and Supervisor before retiring in 2019.
David enjoyed cruises to the Caribbean and Hawaii with Roberta, listening to music and watching classic movies. Above all else, David treasured time spent with family. He looked forward to cooking Sunday dinners, hosting annual holiday gatherings and celebrations at home with friends and loved ones. David always put family first, creating lasting traditions and memories that will be cherished forever. His deep love, patience, and devotion as a father, grandfather, and husband were the true anchors of his life.
He is survived by a son, David Hanna, Jr of Seabrook, NH; two daughters, Cheryl Dion and husband David of Haverhill, MA, and Lisa Hanna and husband Marlon Acuna of Newbury, MA; his dearest grandchildren, Jessica, Aimee, Christian, Lila and Natasha and two beloved great-grandchildren, Caleb and Annabelle; a brother, Gerard Hanna and wife Sylvia Salas of Panama City Beach, FL, along with several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends from near and far. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two brothers, Robert Hanna and Lloyd Hanna.
Visiting hours will be held at Paul C. Rogers Family Funeral Home, 2 Hillside Avenue, Amesbury, MA on July 2nd from 2:00 to 4:00 P.M. immediately followed by a Funeral Service.
