Demetra (Rozantes) Monson, age 93, longtime resident of Newburyport, passed peacefully at her home in Newburyport, surrounded by her loving family. She was the devoted wife of Edwin Monson, who passed on February 12, 2010.
Born in Boston, July 24, 1931, she was one of four children of immigrant parents from Greece, Peter and Helen (Kontes) Rozantes.
Demetra had worked as a clerk at the Brookline Courthouse, a job that she truly loved.
She leaves behind her two sons, Andrew Monson of Attleboro, MA and John Monson of Clover, SC; her only grandson, Tucker Monson, along with extended family and dear friends. She was predeceased by her siblings, Peter Rozantes, Charlie Rozantes and Constance Laskaris. Demetra will continue to be loved and cherished not only by her entire family, but also by those who knew her throughout her life.
The family would like to acknowledge the great help from Michele Limoges, Kind Senior Care staff, Elara Caring hospice staff and the staff at Atria Merrimack Senior living in Newburyport. Also to the numerous family and friends that helped out during this time, your help and generosity is unequaled.
Visiting hours will be held on Saturday, January 4, 2025, from 10 A.M. to 12 P.M. at Elliott, Woodworth & Rogers Family Funeral Home, 35 Green Street, Newburyport, followed by a Funeral Service at the funeral home at 12 P.M., with a Graveside Service at Oak Hill Cemetery, Newburyport, where Demetra will be laid to eternal rest beside her dearest husband, Edwin.
