Denise C. Power

Denise C. Power, 74, formerly of Reading, MA, passed peacefully surrounded by family at Lawrence General Hospital on Tuesday, June 2, 2026.

Born in Winchester, MA on December 28, 1951, she was the daughter of the late John W. and Marie E. (Bry) Power and was a graduate of Reading High School.

For many years, Denise worked as a Nurse’s Aide with the Visiting Nurse Association of Andover, where she was known for her kindness, compassion, and attentive care of her patients. She later made her home in Salisbury, MA, where she loved the closeness of the ocean and the smell of the fresh salt air. She enjoyed walking along the beach with her beloved dog, Roscoe. Denise loved the sandy beach and the ocean, although after spotting a shark in the water many years ago, she would only dip her toes in, even on the hottest of summer days. During the summer months, Denise could often be found sitting on her front porch swing, happily watching the seasonal visitors pass by. She took great pride in the flower boxes outside her home and looked forward to picking out flowers with her son Aaron at a favorite garden center in Byfield. Denise especially cherished the quieter off-season months, when the beach community returned to its close-knit neighborhood feel. Over the years, she formed many dear friendships within the neighborhood she loved so much.

Denise was known among friends and family for always leaving her door open; whenever anyone needed a listening ear or a cold drink, Denise was there to greet them. She inherited her mother’s love of cooking and found great joy in sharing meals, dishes, and recipes with those she loved.

Denise leaves behind her beloved son, Aaron Power, his wife Amy, and her cherished grandson, Mason Power of Madison, NH; her niece, Michelle Goodhue LeColst and husband Matt of Derry, NH; her niece, Elyse Schappert and husband Bill of East Wakefield, NH; her nephew, Joseph Dinan and wife Kelsey of Hendersonville, NC; her nephew, John Dinan and wife Cassey of Haverhill, MA; her niece, Bry Power and husband Ross of Uxbridge, MA; and her nephew, Mitchel Power and wife Ariana of Haverhill, MA. She also leaves behind many beloved great-nieces and great-nephews, including Madelyn, Julia, Isabelle, Sophie, Evelyn, Jackson, Desmond, Harland, Annabel, and Claire.

Denise was predeceased by her older sister, Nicole Dinan of Groveland, MA, and her younger brother, John “Jack” Power of Raymond, NH.

Denise was fortunate to come from a large and loving family and shared a special bond with many cousins throughout her life, especially her cousin, Susan Winske of Marlborough, MA. She also leaves behind extended family members and dear friends who will miss her greatly.

Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, June 11, 2026 from 9 A.M. to 10 A.M. at Elliott, Woodworth & Rogers Family Funeral Home, 35 Green Street, Newburyport, MA 01950 immediately followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:30 A.M. at the Immaculate Conception Church, 42 Green Street, Newburyport, with a Graveside Service at Belleville Cemetery, 26 Storey Avenue, Newburyport, where Denise will be laid to eternal rest.
