Dorothy F. Tessier, age 91, of Amesbury, passed peacefully at AdviniaCare of Newburyport, on the evening of Saturday, January 31, 2026.

Born in Northampton, MA on January 8, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Raymond E. and Anna (Fleury) Tessier. After graduating high school, she arned a nursing degree at Cooley Dickinson Hospital. Dorothy worked for the Red Cross, then went on to join the United States Army in 1960. While stationed at the U.S. Army Hospital in Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri she met her future husband Kennth C. Lewis. She received her honorable discharge in 1962 after marrying and becoming pregnant with her first child. She went on to have two children, Elizabeth and Jonathan. A few years after her husband completed his military service, the marriage ended and she went on to raise her children on her own while starting a career at Raytheon as an occupational health nurse. After retiring, she lived a quiet life in Amesbury, Ma, sharing a house with her daughter and beloved cats.

She leaves behind her daughter, Elizabeth A. Lewis of Amesbury; her son, Jonathan C. Lewis of Florida; her brother, Allan Tessier of Pensacola, Florida, and her sister, Cynthia Tessier of Florence, MA, along with numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brother Raymond Tessier and her sisters, Margaret Edinburgh, Julia Saner and Frances LaMontagne.

A Memorial Mass will be held on Monday, February 16, 2026 at 10 A.M. at St. Joseph’s Church of St. Andre Bessette Parish, 2 School Street, Amesbury, MA 01913. Arrangements were made by Paul C. Rogers Family Funeral Home, 2 Hillside Avenue, Amesbury, MA 01913.
