Evelyn (Andriotakis) Amato, age 86, passed peacefully at her home in Salisbury on Tuesday, June 3, 2025.
Born in Newburyport on October 7, 1938, she was the daughter of the late James and Stella (Ladas) Andriotakis.
Evelyn was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. She is survived by her children: Stephen “Gino” Amato, John Amato and his wife Rachel, David Amato, Joan Marie “Joanie” and her husband James “Jim” Moraites, and Alfred Amato. She also leaves behind her grandchildren: Ryan, Alexander and his partner Christopher DeBella, Anthony and his fiance Kristen DiGloria, Krista Desrosiers and her husband Daniel, Nadine, Christopher, and Nicholas, as well as her great-grandchildren: Tristin, Skylar, and Piper. She is also survived by her brother Louis Andriotakis and his wife Stella of Newburyport.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Alfredo Amato, and by her siblings: John, Theodore and Charlie Andriotakis, Catherine Hamilton, Mary Scribner, and Patricia Peabody.
Evelyn worked for many years as a bookkeeper, office manager, and administrative assistant before retiring. She had a deep love for nature and enjoyed gardening, crocheting, and sitting by the ocean watching the boats in downtown Newburyport. She found joy in sunrises, her Boston Bruins, and a good Dairy Queen ice cream cone. Known for her quick wit and deep affection for her family, Evelyn brought laughter and warmth to every gathering.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, June 19, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Elliott, Woodworth & Rogers Funeral Home, 35 Green Street, Newburyport. Graveside Service will be private.
