Frances L. Medzig

Frances Laura Medzig, 97, of Amesbury, MA passed away peacefully on May 22, 2025, at Adviniacare Country Center in Newburyport, MA after a short illness. She was born in New York City, NY on December 24, 1927, the daughter of William and Janet Ellermann. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Herbert Medzig, on April 16, 1986 in Wantagh, NY.

Family members include her daughters, Elva Cullinane and her husband, John, of Amesbury, MA, and Barbara Fetherolf of Palm Beach Gardens, FL; she was predeceased by her granddaughter, Tara Fetherolf, and survived by four grandchildren, Amy, Christopher, Jamie and Bethany, and seven great grandchildren.

She worked for many years in the executive offices of Sears in New York City. After retirement she served as a volunteer tutor in an adult literacy program in Auburn, ME where she resided with her daughter, Elva and her husband John.

Well into her 90’s Fran was well known in her neighborhood in Bartletts Reach in Amesbury for her dedicated walking four miles a day several days a week on the hills in and around the community.

A private family gathering will be held at a later date. The Paul C. Rogers & Sons Funeral Home, 2 Hillside Avenue, Amesbury, MA 01913, assisted the family with arrangements.
