Harry J. Tarzia, born in Haverhill, MA, son of the late Harry and Marie Kamalian Tarzia, died early Friday morning, Febraury 21, 2025 at the Anna Jaques Hospital in Newburyport, MA. He passed away from complications of pneumonia.  

He leaves his wife of 55 years, Francine Charron Tarzia, a daughter, Heather, and a son, Scott and his wife, Denise. He is also survived by two granddaughters, Olivia and Addison Tarzia. Additionally, he leaves his sister, Kathleen Quimby and a second sister, Alfreda Porro Woodlock, along with several nieces and nephews. 

 Harry was born and raised in Haverhill, MA. He attended Haverhill schools, graduating from Haverhill High School in 1965.  

The following year he enlisted in the U.S. Army. During his military career, he served in Camp Drum, NY, and rode an army tank into Washington, D.C. during the Martin Luther King riots. Eventually he served one year in Vietnam during which time he was awarded the Bronze Star.  

Upon his honorable discharge from the Army in 1969, he returned to his hometown of Haverhill, working for Town Oil of Haverhill.  

In 1970 he met and married his wife and they welcomed their two children, Heather and Scott. 

 In recent years he and his wife enjoyed traveling to locations in the US, Europe, and the Caribbean.  

During his retirement he was an avid woodworker, hunter, and fisherman. On hot summer days he enjoyed spending time at the beach with his granddaughters, taking them to ride the flying horses at Salisbury, walking along the sandy beach, and searching for shells.  

For those who knew and loved him, his loss will be deep and lasting.  

Visiting hours will be held at the the Highland Chapel of Paul C. Rogers Family Funeral Home, 2 Hillside Avenue, Amesbury, MA on Friday, March 21, 2025, from 10 A.M. to 12 P.M. A private Graveside Service will be held at Union Cemetery, Amesbury, where he will be laid to eternal rest.
