Irene D. Berube

Irene Dale Berube, of Salisbury, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family and friends on August 11, 2026.

Dale was well known for her lifelong residence on Rings Island. Born to Irene and Philip Corbin on June 14, 1936, in the Corbin Boat Shed, Dale moved just up the street from her family home after marrying Edmund Paul Berube of Amesbury, remaining there for her entire life over 70 years of marriage.

In 1978, Dale and her daughter, Linda Dale Brown, started a flower shop out of her home on Rings Island before moving it to Elm Street in 1980. Windy Haven Designs became a well-known gathering spot filled with beautiful things, flowers, creative classes, and wonderful friendships. That same year, her daughter Kathy Lee Colom (Manson) opened her dance studio right next door, creating a vibrant community hub of family and friends for over 30 years.

Dale also led her daughters’ Girl Scout troop for many years when they were young. She loved to paint and create decorative art. Above all, Dale loved her home and welcomed countless guests over to swim and share a meal. Every Yankee Homecoming, the Berube family hosted a cookout where all were welcome, making it a cherished annual tradition to watch the fireworks together.

Holidays were always celebrated at Gram and Grandpa’s. Christmas was an especially big event shared with their daughters and sons-in-law, Kathy and Mito Colom, and Linda and Richard Brown; granddaughter Michelle Gooley and her four children, Ashley, Halle, Jarod, and Parker; grandson Richard James Brown and his wife, Leah Paraskoulakis; and granddaughter Samantha Kuzson and her husband, Tom, along with their two children, Riley Ray and Jacob Edmund. She also leaves behind a lifetime of dear friends, including Beverly and Mark Thivierge of Amesbury, Pam Donahue of Methuen, and Francis Norton of Salisbury.

Dale loved a good party. She will be deeply missed as the rock of her family. She led her life with unconditional love and compassion, serving as an example to all on how God wants His children to treat one another. All who knew Dale were truly blessed.

Visiting hours will be held on Friday, August 21, 2026 at the family homestead at 10 First Street, Salisbury, starting at 2 P.M. and going as long as it will be.
