Isabelle (Cooper) Champoux, was born and raised in Newburyport, Massachusetts. An avid cheerleader and social butterfly, she graduated from Newburyport High School in 1944 and later married her high school sweetheart, Donald Champoux. They settled in Salisbury where they created the family homestead of 7+ decades. In their later years, they spent time at their summer home along the Parker River.
Even after high school she continued her whimsical social life through work and faith, as both she and her husband were very active at St. Paul’s Church and in the community. Beyond her love of community and family her love of crafts was endless. She would knit hats and gloves for everyone she knew and even more that she would give to those in need. Braiding rugs and restoring antiques filled not only her home but her heart as well. Though home was where her heart always was, she was no stranger to travel. Many weekends were spent camping with her kids, trips with her grandsons, visiting friends as far as Florida and even going to England with her husband. She enjoyed her last 2 years living at the Elizabeth Calsey House in Amesbury, making friends with the staff and other residents, whom she adored and was adored by, and she was grateful for the many visitors she received during her time there.
Isabelle was predeceased by her beloved husband, Donald, and her sons Donnie and Arthur. She is survived by her grandsons Chad of Salisbury, Gary and Kieth of Dover, daughter-in-law Beverly of Dover, and countless other relatives and friends in the area and across the country.
Visiting hours will be held at Elliott, Woodworth & Rogers Family Funeral Home, 35 Green Street, Newburyport on Wednesday, April 1st, from 9:30 A.M. to 10:30 A.M. immediately followed by a Funeral Service at the funeral home.
