James William Goucher, Sr., age 87, of Seabrook, NH, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. He was predeceased by his beloved wife and the love of his life, Judith (Brown) Goucher.
Born in Newburyport, MA on July 12, 1939, he was the son of the late Albert and Veronica (Reda) Goucher and attended Newburyport High School. For many years, James worked for the City of Newburyport Department of Public Works.
He was a member of the Newburyport Polish Club, the Newburyport Moose Lodge, and the Elks Club. An avid bowler and fisherman, Jim also enjoyed his daily walks, but above all, he cherished spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his two sons, James “Jim” Goucher, Jr. and his significant other, Martha Hood, Jeffrey Goucher and his wife, Kelli, all of Newton, NH; his daughter, Janette Hill and her husband, Stephen, of Cornish, ME; nine grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren; his brother, Stanley “Butch” Goucher of Newburyport, MA; as well as many extended family members and dear friends. In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by three sisters, Joan Caswell, Mary Kiman, and Shirley Lang.
A graveside service for family and friends will be held on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, at 11:00 A.M. at Oak Hill Cemetery.
