John Carter [aka, Nath] of Seabrook, NH passed peacefully early Tuesday morning on 19-November 2024 surrounded by his family.

John is survived by his wife Janet L. Carter; sister Pam and Ed Muller of Newfields, NH; brother Bill Carter of Conway, NH; son Jeffrey and Cindy Carter of New Ipswich, NH; step son Bryan Eaton and Lisa Conti of Salisbury, MA; step son Mark and Robin Eaton of Seabrook, NH; step daughter Michelle and late husband Tom Joyce of Seabrook, NH; step son Gary and Maryanne Eaton of Seabrook, NH; six grandchildren; five great grandchildren; multiple nieces/nephews; many extended family and friends.

John was born on 02-October 1937 in Amesbury, MA and grew up on 57 Pearl St. He was an avid athlete and excelled in hockey. He graduated with the Amesbury High School class of 1955 and married Patricia Penniman. Together they had their son, Jeffrey. John joined the US Navy as they started their adventure together. John served as an Aviation Electronics Technician Petty Officer 2nd Class [AT2 Rank] as a combat aircrewman on S2F Tracker aircraft conducting anti submarine warfare operations completing 165 flight missions [485.8 Hrs.].

John separated from the Navy in 1960 and began his career at the Henschel Corporation in Amesbury, MA where he worked throughout his career. He earned a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering at the Lowell Technological Institute and retired as a Vice President in 1994.

John and Janet were married in 1994 and resided in Amesbury, MA; East Kingston, NH; and Seabrook, NH. They were blessed with 30+ years of marriage with many cherished memories. John was active in Newburyport’s North End Boat Club, Amesbury’s Polish Club and VFW Post. You could find him stopping in for a beer with friends at any of these establishments or at the Winner’s Circle on Wednesdays with former classmates and hockey players. He will be remembered by many for his firm handshake, great stories, and fun-loving ability to humor his grandchildren.

Calling hours will be from 4:00 to 7:00 pm on Friday, 22-November, at the Rogers Funeral Home on 2 Hillside Ave in Amesbury, MA. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM at the Baptist Church on 37 Market St in Amesbury, MA followed by a burial ceremony at the Union Cemetery in Amesbury, MA. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in John’s name to the Rockingham VNA and Hospice organization at 5 Alumni Dr in Exeter, NH 03833 [603-772-2981].
