Judith A. McNatt

Judith Ann (Dunning) McNatt, age 80, of Newburyport, MA, passed peacefully on November 1, 2026, at Port Healthcare Center in Newburyport. She was the beloved wife of the late John W. McNatt, who passed away on May 28, 2022, and her first husband, the late Lawrence “Red” Sargent.

Born in Newburyport on September 15, 1946, she was the cherished daughter of the late Samuel L. and Georgia R. (Aikins) Dunning. Judith was a lifelong resident of the area and attended school in Newburyport.

For many years, Judith worked as a dedicated waitress, bringing her feisty personality and bright smile to countless patrons in the community. She was a proud member of the Newburyport Women of the Moose, where she enjoyed the camaraderie and fellowship of her peers. Above all, Judith cherished her family, especially loving the time she spent sharing laughter, memories, and stories with her sisters.

She is survived by her two devoted sons, Christopher Sargent and his wife Paige of Berwick, Maine, and Brian Sargent and his fiancée, Melissa Russell of Salisbury. She was the loving grandmother of Kelsie Brill, Christopher Sargent, Emerson Sargent, Delaney Sargent, Meghan Souther, Christina Sargent, Albert “Bert” Sargent, and Alex Sargent. She is also survived by her many precious great-grandchildren, as well as a large extended family of nieces, nephews, and close friends who will miss her dearly. In addition to her parents and husbands, Judith was preceded in death by two of her sons, Lawrence Sargent and Albert Sargent; her grandson, Brandon Sargent; her brothers, George Dunning and Samuel “Jim” Dunning; and her three sisters, Mary Adams, Margaret Daley, and Kay Morrison.

Visiting hours will be held at Elliott, Woodworth & Rogers Family Funeral Home, 35 Green Street, Newburyport, MA 01950 on Sunday, November 8, 2026, from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at the Immaculate Conception Church, 42 Green Street, Newburyport, on Monday, November 9, 2026, at 10:30 A.M. Burial will follow at Long Hill Cemetery in Salisbury, where she will be laid to eternal rest alongside her loved ones.
