It is with immense sadness that we share that Kevin Sullivan, 76, of Salisbury, Massachusetts, passed away unexpectedly on June 1, 2026. Born on July 14, 1949, in Charlestown, Massachusetts, Kevin was the beloved son of the late Nora “Rita” Sullivan (née Driscoll) and Joseph Sullivan.
Kevin graduated from Boston Technical High School in 1967 and went on to complete an apprenticeship at the U.S. Naval Shipyard in Charlestown. This foundation led to a distinguished career spanning his lifetime until retirement with the U.S. Department of Defense (Navy). As a Naval Architect for Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, Detachment Boston, Kevin took immense pride in his work. His role allowed him to travel extensively to U.S. Naval bases around the world, where he forged lasting friendships and created cherished memories.
Kevin also found joy and fulfillment in his personal life. He shared a loving 56-year marriage with his wife, Doreen, and together they cultivated a beautiful family and legacy. In recent years, they shared pride in their home, taking on many home improvement projects including gardening together. Over the years, Kevin shared a love of pets with his wife, Doreen - from the early days with many pet dogs who were like family to more recently enjoying their rambunctiously active cats, Bella and Allie.
They also enjoyed taking scenic drives along the New Hampshire and Maine coasts, often stopping for seafood along the way. Kevin had a passion for travel, particularly to destinations like the Caribbean, Ireland, and Italy and always welcomed family and friends on his next adventure. He also took great pride in caring for his 1967 Buick Gran Sport Convertible – an activity he shared with his children. All of this with his treasured Bee Gees as the soundtrack to his life.
Kevin was an avid supporter of Boston sports teams, especially the New England Patriots. While professional and local sports gained his attention and admiration, his great pride and joy stemmed from raising and nurturing his three children from their early years through adulthood and being their biggest fan. Then along came the grandchildren - whether it was watching them play hockey, dance, compete in gymnastics, or applauding their artistic talents in theater and visual arts – Kevin was on the sidelines with the biggest, prideful smile.
Kevin is survived by his devoted wife Doreen; his daughter Kim and her husband Jack; his sons Sean and Marc along with their wives Kristie and Linda; and his five cherished grandchildren: Norah, Kailin, Declan, Meaghan, and Hayley. He is also survived by his brothers Brian, James, and Gerard, many nieces and nephews, his Driscoll cousins from near and far and his lifelong friends he made along the way.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, June 19th from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Paul C Rogers Funeral Home located at 2 Hillside Avenue in Amesbury, MA. At 4:30 PM during calling hours, Kevin’s family will share heartfelt reflections about his life followed by prayers. A Celebration of Life gathering will follow at The Elks Club at 25 Low Street in Newburyport starting at 5:30 PM.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Kevin’s memory to the MSPCA (https://www.mspca.org/tribute-memorial-giving/) or The Jimmy Fund (https://www.jimmyfund.org/.
Kevin’s legacy of love for family, dedication to his work, and zest for life will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him. May his memory bring comfort to all who mourn his passing. “Nobody gets too much heaven no more.” ~ The Bee Gees
