Lorraine G. (Rhoades) Myette, age 72, of Amesbury, passed peacefully at her home on Monday evening, July 6, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. She was the devoted wife of James Myette, Jr., married for 45 wonderful years.
Born in Somerville, MA, November 14, 1953, she was one of seven daughters of the late Preston L. and Ada (Ghilardi) Rhoades and was a graduate of North Cambridge Catholic, Class of 1972.
Lorraine made many great friends on her journey through life. She was quick-witted, sarcastic and sensitive and could be all those things at any given moment. She cherished many summers at Lake Winnisquam with family and friends, enjoying her favorite getaway. Nature and simple beauty made her happy, whether it was apple-picking with her children, creating memories at StoryLand with her grandchildren, or leaf-peeping on the Kancamagus with her favorite people. She was very well-known for her chocolate chip cookies and didn’t dare arrive at a family function without them. She was a collector of all things snowmen and known for her large collection of family photos, particularly the grandchildren taking up most of the wall space in her home. Being Nana was one of the things that brought her the most joy. She was a bright light who loved music, especially the oldies. In her younger days she would dance around the room. As she aged, she sang the songs louder and more offkey, though her loved ones still appreciated it. She could often be found at the kitchen table playing Cribbage, SkipBo, or Farkle (among others!) with her friends and family. The laughter would fill the house with love.
Lorraine was strong and brave, facing challenges head on. Her kindness captured those she came in contact with including regular customers who knew her well from her 20+ years as a supervisor at CVS Health. Everyone who came in contact with her left brighter and calmer.
Her life was full of beautiful memories that will be treasured forever by her husband, James; her three children,, Lynne DeAmelio-Rafferty and her wife, Kathleen Rafferty, Kevin DeAmelio, and Jacqueline Cuneo and husband Daniel Cuneo; her five grandchildren who she loved with all her heart, Emily, Leah, Lucas and Benjamin DeAmelio and Michael Cuneo; her three sisters, Jacqueline Coffman, Virginia Mawhinney and Nancy Petraglia, along with several nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends. In addition to her parents, she was also predeceased by three sisters, Donna Bernard, Joyce Mullane and Linda Sederquist and her grandson, Jacob DeAmelio.
Visiting hours will be held on Monday, July 13, 2026 from 9 A.M. to 10:30 A.M. at Paul C. Rogers Family Funeral Home, 2 Hillside Avenue, Amesbury, MA immediately followed by a Memorial Mass at St. Joseph Church of St. Andre Bessette Parish, 2 School Street, Amesbury, with a Graveside Service at St. Joseph Cemetery, Haverhill Road, Amesbury, where Lorraine will be laid to everlasting eternal rest.
