Throughout his illness, Michael faced every challenge with remarkable strength, determination, grace, and an enduring sense of humor. His unwavering spirit inspired family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Born on November 29, 1958, Michael lived a life defined by integrity, devotion to family, service to others, and a genuine appreciation for life's many blessings. He was respected for his wisdom, generosity, wit, and steadfast character. Whether in his professional pursuits, community involvement, or personal relationships, Michael led with humility, kindness, and an unwavering commitment to those around him.

Michael dedicated much of his professional life to the maritime industry, where he earned the admiration and respect of colleagues and peers alike. His service on the London Maritime Board reflected his commitment to leadership, excellence, and the advancement of an industry that he loved. He approached every responsibility with diligence, thoughtfulness, and a deep sense of purpose.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Michael embraced life with enthusiasm, humor, and gratitude. To those who knew him best, he was always the joker. Whether orchestrating a harmless prank, delivering a perfectly timed witty remark, or sharing a story that left everyone laughing, Michael had a unique ability to bring joy and lightness to every gathering. Family and friends will forever remember his mischievous smile and his gift for finding humor, even in challenging times.

Michael delighted in life's simple pleasures. He enjoyed sharing a Gin & Tonic with friends, savoring a good glass of red wine, and spending meaningful time with those he loved most. An avid golfer, he relished the challenge of the game and the camaraderie that accompanied it. Some of his happiest moments were spent in the breathtaking beauty of the Swiss Mountains, a place that brought him peace, reflection, and inspiration. Equally at home on the water, Michael seized every opportunity to boat, sail, or simply enjoy the serenity of the sea. Whether gazing across a mountain vista or spending a day by the water, he found joy in the beauty of the world around him.

Michael was also a devoted dog lover whose beloved Bouvier and Podengo dogs were treasured members of the family over the years. Their loyalty and companionship brought him immeasurable happiness and reflected the same devotion and affection he shared so freely with others.

Above all, Michael's greatest joy was his family. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle, and friend whose love and encouragement shaped the lives of those closest to him. His legacy is one of unwavering love, generosity, courage, and laughter.

Michael embodied that courage every day, especially throughout his battle with cancer. Even in the face of adversity, he remained focused on what mattered most: family, friendship, faith, love, and living each day with dignity and purpose.

Michael is lovingly survived by his wife, Sarah; his sons, Michael Paul and Liam Michael ; his daughter, Maya Catherine ; and his cherished grandson, Preston, who brought him immeasurable pride and joy. He is also survived by his beloved and incredible mother, Catherine, whose strength, love, and support were a cornerstone of his life.

He leaves behind a large and devoted family, including Dr. Sharon Tooze, Anne Marie and James Bech, and Elizabeth and Donald Kearns, and Mary Anne and Michael Gaza, along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends whose lives were enriched by his kindness, wisdom, generosity, and friendship.

The family would also like to extend their deepest gratitude to the extraordinary doctors, nurses, caregivers, and healthcare professionals who cared for Michael throughout his courageous battle with cancer. Their compassion, skill, dedication, and kindness brought comfort and dignity during life's most difficult moments. The love and support they provided to both Michael and his family will never be forgotten. Their unwavering commitment allowed him to face his journey surrounded by care, respect, and humanity.

Though his passing leaves an immeasurable void, Michael's legacy lives on in the countless lives he touched, the values he exemplified, and the love he gave so freely. Perhaps the memory many will cherish most is not a single achievement, but Michael surrounded by family and friends, laughing, sharing a story, raising a glass, planning the next joke, or enjoying the company of those he held dear. Those moments captured the essence of who he was: a man whose warmth, humor, and generosity made the world a better place.
