Patricia A. (Elwell) Clark, age 90, passed peacefully at her home in Byfield, on Friday, September 4, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Newburyport, September 3, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Arthur M. Elwell and Mildred N. (Andrews) Elwell, and was a graduate of Newburyport High School. She continued with her education and received a Bachelor’s Degree from Salem State College and became a teacher in elementary schooling which was dear to her heart. She taught over 30 years, starting in California, then to Alaska, then came back locally to several different school districts. She truly loved teaching and her students loved her.

Pat, as she was known by many, was an enthusiastic knitter, making sweaters for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as infant bonnets and sweaters that she donated to hospitals and to church fairs. Additionally, Pat loved to donate to many local charities and above all else, Pat was all about sharing and caring for others and spreading kindness and love. Her Bible Study was very dear to her heart and brought her inner peace.

She leaves behind the treasured memories that were shared with her loving family, her children, Christopher A. Clark, Valerie M. Clark and her life partner, Scott Melanson, and Ella L. Clark; her dearest grandchildren, Joshua Arthur Ellis Clark, Rachael Lillian Obey and companion Zachary Muse, Jacob David Grasso and wife Brittany, Kendall Patricia Leary and husband Shayne, Angelica Rae Clark, Nicholas Clark and Anastasia Lisa Clark and significant other, Beau DeGroff; her great-grandchildren were also very special, Reese Eleanor Leary, Hayden David Leary, McKenna Ann Leary, Dahlia Vera Grasso, Scarlet Valerie Grasso, Sebastian Leo Grasso and Minerva DeGroff; her brother, Robert Elwell and his predeceased wife Mary Pat; cousins John Elwell and wife Carol and family, Richard Elwell and significant partner Linda and family, and Lee Will and wife Joyce and family, along with nieces, nephews, very special friends, and her extra very special Kitty Cat, Tommy. In addition to her parents, she was also predeceased by her first husband, Richard E. Clark and second husband, Thomas Cunningham, her son, Nathan Scott Clark, and her grandson, Nicholas Maurice Grasso.

Visiting hours will be held at Paul C. Rogers Family Funeral Home, 2 Hillside Avenue. Amesbury, MA 01913, on Sunday, September 27, 2026 from 4 to 6 P.M. immediately followed by a Memorial Service at the Funeral Home with Chaplain Chris Bodecker. At a later date, Patricia will be laid to eternal rest at the Walnut Hill Cemetery in West Newbury, where she will be with her parents.
