Paul Courtney Watson, 93, passed away on April 16, 2026, at High Pointe Hospice House in Haverhill. He was born in the shadow of the Bunker Hill Monument in Charlestown, Massachusetts, on March 17, 1933. He was the son of Paul Raymond and Dora Brabbing Watson.

He graduated from Newburyport High School in 1952 and University of New Hampshire in 1960, as a mechanical engineer.

He served in the Army Security Agency in Okinawa from 1955 – 1957.

Paul was an engineer with General Electric, retiring from the Aircraft Engine’s Repair Engineering group. He was the inveterate “fixer”. If something was broken or there was a problem with it, he would repair it rather than toss it. When computers came into being, he loved the technology and spent much time with them - even building his own computers several times. He owned several antique cars and very much enjoyed tinkering with them. He was a former member of the Volkswagen Club of America and the Volvo Club of America.

He grew up with Scottish Terriers and during his 55 years of marriage owned 16 Scotties, usually having multiple dogs at a time. The dogs were Kathy, Rufus, Angus, Penny, Skippy, Tobey, Seamus, Molly, Alex, Katie, Ziva, Taffy, Barney, Hunter, with Bella and Marley surviving him.

To accommodate the dogs, Judy and Paul became RV enthusiasts. They enjoyed multiple trips to Florida and Canada and went as far west as New Orleans and Michigan’s Upper Peninsula.

Paul also enjoyed cooking - he was the chief cook in the house.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Judith Hughes Watson; his sister Dora Nyborg; her daughters, Susan (Tom) Encke and Cathy Blomquist; his cousins children, Anthony D’Anna and Patricia D’Anna, as well as his in-laws, Carol Hughes Malloy, Paul (Eileen) Hughes, and Michael Hughes; Carol’s daughters, Maureen (Joe) Nava and Mary Ellen (Jonathon) Bell, her son Timothy (Susan) Malloy and their daughters Ava and Sophia. He was pre-deceased by his nephew Gary Nyborg, cousins William (Anne) Woodman, Jane (Dwight) MacDonald, and John (Marilyn) Bourque.

In lieu of flowers, contributions for the rescue efforts of the Scottish Terrier Club of New England would be appreciated at STCNE.org or 92 Parklawn Drive, Waterbury, CT 06708.

Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, April 26, 2026 from 4 to 7 P.M. at Paul C. .Rogers Family Funeral Home, 2 Hillside Avenue, Amesbury, MA 01913 and the Funeral Service will be held on Monday, April 27, 2026 at 10:30 A.M. at the funeral home.
