Richard A. Baker

Richard Allen Baker, age 64, of Newburyport, MA, passed peacefully at his home in Newburyport on Friday July 24, 2026, surrounded by his family who loved him dearly.

Born in Saugus, MA on January 11, 1962, he was the son of the late Elwin Richard Baker and the late Sylvia May (Olson) Baker and was a graduate of Saugus High School.

Richard was an avid fisherman and boater and had worked at CW Hood Yachts building custom boats and also painting boats, a passion that will always be with him.

He leaves behind two daughters, Melynee McCarthy and Britanie McCarthy, both of Saugus, MA; a brother, Douglas Baker and wife Jennifer of Amesbury, MA; a sister, Kimberly Kane and husband Tom of Tewkbury, MA; two grandchildren, Savannah McCarthy and Brandon McCarthy, both of Saugus, MA, along with several nieces and nephews, several grandnieces and grandnephews, extended family and many dear friends. Richard was predeceased by his sister, Kelley Baker, and Larry was her longtime companion and he will continue to love her forever.

Visiting hours will be held on Saturday, August 1, 2026 , from 10 A.M. to 2 P.M. at Elliott, Woodworth & Rogers Family Funeral Home, 35 Green Street, Newburyport, MA 01950. In Lieu of flowers, please consider making donations in memory of Richard A. Baker, to the charity of the donor’s choice.
