Rosario “Joe, Joey, JoJo” DeGloria, of Salisbury, MA, aged 55, died on September 24, 2026 at Massachusetts General Hospital after a long illness.
Joe was born in Bon Secours Hospital (now Holy Family Hospital), in Methuen, MA on April 1, 1971 and with the exception of brief periods in Las Vegas, San Diego, Denver and Farmington, Maine, lived in the greater Newburyport area.
Joe grew up in Rowley, graduated from Triton Regional High School in 1989, and attended U Mass, Amherst. He pursued diverse careers including antiques dealer, carpenter, cab driver etc and was also a musician and an artist. He produced many paintings and drawings of his beloved Newburyport riverfront and the famous “Pink House.”
He was a kind, smart, talented person with an insightful comment for every occasion and a quick wit that delighted everyone who knew him. In difficult times he would always say “Don’t worry, it’s going to be alright”.
He leaves behind his mother, Marion Scharoun and his stepfather, Steve Scharoun of Farmington, ME, brother George Scharoun of Portland, ME, and siblings, Gabriel, Amanda, and Anna DeGloria and their mother, Lynn DeGloria, and Tess Wonson. He is predeceased by his father Rosario DeGloria Jr. and niece Cassidy.
He also leaves behind aunts and uncles, cousins, niece and nephew, and many, many friends who will cherish their memories of him .
A celebration of Joe’s life will be held this fall, time and place to be announced.
