Steven E. Denis

Steven Edward Denis, 83, of Epping, New Hampshire, passed away peacefully on September 17, 2026. He was born on November 13, 1942, in Salem, Massachusetts, to Edward Denis and Beatrice (Longvale) Denis. Steve spent his childhood on Leach Street in Salem, where his lifelong love of family, hockey, and the outdoors began.

Steve married his first love, Elaine Marquis, and together they shared 62 wonderful years of marriage. They built a life centered around family, hard work, and countless memories. For the past 22 years, Steve and Elaine called New Hampshire home, living most recently in Laconia and Epping.

Steve spent 37 years working for American Airlines, where he ended his career as a Crew Chief Mechanic. He was a dedicated employee, a great team player, and someone others could always count on. He proudly served in the United States Coast Guard from 1962 through 1966.

Hockey was one of Steve’s lifelong passions. He began playing street hockey as a child and continued through high school. He later played alongside his son David, coached his son’s hockey teams, and proudly supported his grandson Nick throughout his high school hockey years. He also loved watching the Boston Bruins.

But perhaps Steve’s greatest passion was boating. There was no place he would rather be than on the water. Whether behind the wheel of a boat, spending time with family, or simply enjoying a beautiful day, Steve was happiest there. He often said, “Any day was a good day on the water.” Those words will forever be associated with his love of life, family, and the outdoors.

Steve was a kind, patient, generous, and hardworking man. Above all else, his family was his greatest joy. He took tremendous pride in his children and grandchildren and treasured the time he spent with them.

Steve is survived by his beloved wife, Elaine Denis; his son, David Denis; his daughter, Diana Kidd, and her husband, Jeffrey Kidd; his daughter, Melissa Richard, and her husband, Paul Richard; and his sister, Rebecca Denis. He was a proud grandfather to Chloe Cleveland, Stephen Denis, Emily McTeague, Nick Kidd, Aiden Kidd, Meghan Kidd, Jared Richard, and Jillian Richard. He was also a loving great-grandfather to Myles Cleveland, Dax McTeague, and Vivian McTeague. He was preceded in death by Conrad Denis, Marguerite Gaudet, and Dolores Przypek.

Steve will be remembered for his kindness, generosity, love of family, and the joy he found in being on the water. His family will remember him on the ice, at the helm of his boat, cheering from the sidelines, watching the Bruins, and most of all, surrounded by the people he loved.
