William G. Morse, age 83, of Amesbury, died on May 25, 2025, surrounded by his family. Born in St. Johnsbury, VT, on January 30, 1942, he was the firstborn son of the late Gerald C. and Elizabeth (Downing) Morse.

A proud member of the Local 7 Iron Workers Union in Boston, Bill dedicated over 30 years to his trade, contributing to many of the region’s landmark projects, including the Big Dig, and the International Terminal at Boston Logan Airport.

In retirement, Bill continued going as fast as his body would allow him, and was very active in maintaining beautiful gardens with his beloved wife, Prudy, fishing and playing golf as often as he could, yelling at the New England Patriots all season long, meeting his friends for the weekly “Coffee Club,” and carrying on his wife’s tradition of always sending out birthday and anniversary cards to their loved ones. Additionally, he was privileged to play an involved role with his grandchildren, never missed an opportunity to bond with his sons, and indulged the female members of his family by hosting an annual Hallmark Christmas Movie Night, where Bill was the only male in attendance.

He is survived by three sons, Jeffrey Morse and wife, Karena, Timothy Morse and wife, Jessica, all of Amesbury, Peter Morse and wife, Lauren, of Fremont, NH; five grandchildren; Joshua, Jessica, Ashley, William, and Logan; a brother, Donald Morse of South Hampton, NH, along with many nieces, nephews, and extended family. He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Prudence T. (Myrick) Morse; and his sister, Betsy Martel.

Visiting hours will be held on Wed., June 4, 2025, from 4 PM to 8 PM at the Highland Chapel of Paul C. Rogers Family Funeral Home, 2 Hillside Avenue, Amesbury, MA 01913. A Funeral Service will take place on Thursday, June 5, 2025, at 10 AM at the Main Street Congregational Church, 145 Main Street, Amesbury, with burial to follow at Mount Prospect Cemetery, Amesbury. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Lung Association, the American Heart Association or the Wounded Warrior Project.
